There are so many elements that I love about Ann Andersons Hexagon Alley Quilt. The way she mixes up the hexagons so that they have different elements in them. The way she adds the solid colored one in. The way she offsets the "Alley". There are so many great ways to use a hexagon and this is just one of them.
Another fun one from Jean Ann Wright is Cut the Cake Hexies. Notice the secondary block around each hexagon. Try making this quilt by reversing the lights and darks so that the secondary star takes center stage. Or use the idea from the first quilt to create different hexie centers.
Creative Grids® has some great rulers to help make your hexagon quilts easier than ever. These quilts both utilize (CGRJAW4) Hexagon Trim Tool, designed by Jean Ann Wright and the second one also uses (CGRT60) 60 Degree Equilateral Triangle Ruler designed by Karla Alexander. A couple of rulers and some imagination and you've got artistry! Give it a try.
