Bustin’ Through Scraps with Scrap Club

Class Series Creative Grids Cut Loose Press Jean Ann Wright pineapple block scrapbusters scrappy quilts wonky log cabin

For some good Scrap Bustin’ fun, look no further than your trusty friends at Cut Loose Press™. We have some amazing patterns that you can use over and over again for quick, no thinking, block making.

Gather your group and have them all bring their scraps to share. You can meet just once or once a month! Either way it’s a fun reason to get together. You can even share rulers and  patterns, and work on different things at the same time. And because there isn’t any hard thinking, you’ll have fun talking, singing, and laughing the day away all while accomplishing a unified goal. What could be better?

Here are a few block/quilt ideas:

This one is called ‘Paddle Wheel’ by Penny Haren (CLPGRG004). The block can be made in many different sizes and couldn’t be easier. Grab the Creative Grids® Straight Out of Line ruler (CGRKA3) and go to town.  With some bigger scraps, the same ruler guides you easily through ‘Against the Rail ‘by Karla Alexander (CLPKAL001) and ‘Shindig’ by Jill Blair (CLPJBL002).

One of my favorite quick and easy quilts is ‘Sweet Sixteen’ by Jean Ann Wright (CLPJAW089). This pattern utilizes the Creative Grids® Wonky Log Cabin Trim Tool (CGRJAW13) and works well with leftover jelly roll strips. For even more fun, why not piece strips together and then sew them into the log cabin?! Don’t think, just sew.  The rulers make it all come out in the end.

Lastly, there is no better pattern than a pineapple block for using up scraps. This pattern ‘Pineapple Smoothies’ (CLPCLP003) makes easy work of what appears to be a complicated block. It utilizes the Creative Grids® Skinny Pineapple Trim Tool (CGRJAW12). The best part? Each block finishes at 12 inches so a decent size table topper could be completed with only 4 blocks. I love the secondary Circle that’s created when sewing the blocks together.

These are just a few of the amazing scrap quilt ideas offered by Cut Loose Press™. You could do a scrap quilt a month for an entire year! Let me know what ideas YOU have for a series of classes or clubs. I’ll put something together for you.
